NON-THESIS MASTER'S PROGRAM APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND EVALUATION


  1. In order to apply to the Non-Thesis Master's Program, candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a field specified in the announcement.
  2. In the admission of students to the Non-Thesis Master's Program, the evaluation criteria is determined by taking into account the undergraduate graduation grade (GPA).
  3. In case of equivalence of the achievement scores of the candidates applying for non-thesis graduate programs, the younger candidate is given priority.
  4. A document showing Turkish proficiency at C1 or 65/100 level (if any) obtained from TÖMER within the last 3 (three) years, (a) Turkish Language requirement is not required for international applicants who graduated from a Turkish program of a Higher Education Institution in Turkey. (b) Foreign language requirement is not required for applications to departments whose program language is Turkish.
  5. Successful candidates within the quotas are announced on the institute's website for final registration. If the quota from the original list is not filled, registration is taken from the reserve list.

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND EVALUATION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

 

  1. A copy of both the original and a Turkish translation of the diploma or graduation certificate (bachelor's degree or graduation certificate for master's programs; bachelor's and master's degree or graduation certificates for doctoral programs) certified by the Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Turkey or the Education Counselor's Office or certified by notaries public affiliated to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey),
  2. The original and Turkish translation of the transcript (undergraduate/graduate) certified by the Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Turkey or the Education Counselor's Office or certified by the notaries of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey,
  3. Identity document (Certified Turkish translation of the parts of the passport related to identity),
  4. Letter of Intent (a letter explaining the student's purpose of graduate education, studies and projects) (Turkish or English) available on the website of the relevant Graduate School,
  5. Curriculum vitae form (in Turkish or English) available on the website of the relevant Graduate School,
  6. Biometric passport photo in International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards,
  7. A document showing Turkish proficiency at C1 or 65/100 level (if any) obtained from TÖMER within the last 3 (three) years,
  1. Turkish Language requirement is not required for International candidates who graduated from a Turkish program of a Higher Education Institution in Turkey.
  2. No foreign language requirement is required for applications to departments whose program language is Turkish.
  1. If the applicant does not have a document showing language proficiency, he/she is obliged to fulfill the language proficiency requirement within 2 (two) semesters from the date of final registration. Students who fail to fulfill the language proficiency requirement at the end of the specified period are deregistered.
  2. The candidate cannot take courses from the program he/she enrolled in until he/she meets the language proficiency requirement.
  3. English-English language graduate program In order for foreign national candidates to apply to the graduate program taught in English, they must graduate from a bachelor's program whose language of education is English in countries where English is spoken as a mother tongue or official language, or obtain at least 60 (sixty) points from YDS or equivalent points from a foreign language exam accepted by the Higher Education Council.

 

  1. In order to apply for graduate programs, the GPA must be at least 2.50 for undergraduate programs and at least 2.75 for doctoral programs.

  1. In the calculation of the success evaluation grade, 80% of the undergraduate graduation grade point average and 20% of the interview exam are taken into consideration in master's degree applications. For students who score below 50 points out of 100 in the interview exam, the success evaluation grade is not determined and these students are considered unsuccessful and are not included in the ranking. In addition, in order for a student to be considered successful, the total score to be obtained from the undergraduate graduation average and interview exam grades must be at least 50 points. In doctorate applications, 80% of the master's degree grade point average and 20% of the interview are taken into consideration. For students who score below 50 points out of 100 in the interview exam, the success evaluation grade is not determined and these students are considered unsuccessful and are not included in the ranking. In addition, in order for a student to be considered successful, the total score to be obtained from the master's graduation average and interview exam grades must be at least 60.
  2. Candidates who apply to be a graduate student by certifying that they have a scholarship from the Republic of Turkey or their own states can be admitted to graduate programs as a student with the decision of the ECYK out of the quota.
  3. Candidates who apply for graduate education within the scope of bilateral agreements or protocols to which Kastamonu University is a party can be accepted as a student with the decision of the EYK of the relevant program out of the quota.
  4. The student is obliged to pay the international student contribution fee determined by the Council of Ministers every year and to fulfill other financial obligations.

 

 

TRANSFER APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Transfer applications must be made in person with the "Transfer Application Form" within the period specified in the academic calendar.

Diploma or graduation certificate from universities (for master's programs, bachelor's diploma or graduation certificate; for doctoral programs, bachelor's and master's diplomas or graduation certificates, both the original and the Turkish translation of the original diploma or graduation certificate certified by the Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Turkey or the Education Counsellor's Office, or a copy certified by notaries public affiliated to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey),
    3. Student Certificate and Transcript (if the student is transferring from a university abroad, both the original and the Turkish translation of the documents must be certified by the Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Turkey or the Education Counselor's Office of the Republic of Turkey, or certified by the notaries of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey),
    4. Passport or Passport with Study Entry Visa,
    5. A document showing Turkish proficiency at C1 or 65/100 level obtained from TÖMER within the last 3 (three) years.
  2. In order to apply for a transfer from a higher education institution in Turkey, the following conditions must be met:
    1. To be enrolled in a graduate program in another higher education institution, provided that it is in the same or similar program.
    2. To have no failed courses (including absenteeism) and to have a grade point average of at least 75 (CB) in master's degree with thesis and non-thesis, and at least 80 (BB) in doctorate and proficiency in art, and to have not been disciplined,
    3. At least one semester of study.
  3. For Master's programs; Not having passed the thesis stage, For doctoral programs, the student has not taken the doctoral proficiency exam at the higher education institution where the student comes from, or even if he / she has taken and succeeded, re-examination is required.

  1. In order to apply for a transfer from a higher education institution abroad, the following conditions must be met:
    1. International students applying for master's and doctoral programs are not required to meet the foreign language requirement and ALES requirement.
    2. Candidates who have completed their undergraduate education in a country other than Turkey and TRNC and candidates who have completed their undergraduate and graduate education in a country other than Turkey and TRNC are not required to take foreign language and ALES or equivalent exams.
    3. Candidates who have completed their undergraduate education in higher education institutions in Turkey must have at least 55 (fifty-five) points for master's and doctorate from the announced score type of the program to which they apply from ALES, or must have received an equivalent score from equivalent exams accepted by the Interuniversity Board.
    4. Candidates who have completed one of their undergraduate and master's degree programs in Turkish Republic or TRNC educational institutions and who are Turkish citizens applying for transfer to doctoral programs must have a minimum score of 55 (fifty-five) from YDS for any of the English- French-German languages other than their mother tongue or an equivalent score from an exam accepted by the Interuniversity Board.
    5. Students who are enrolled in a graduate program at a higher education institution and who have completed at least one semester in this program, provided that they apply with the necessary documents within the required period, can be admitted to any stage of the graduate programs carried out at the University through transfer, with the recommendation of the EABD chairmanship and the decision of the EYK, by specifying which of the course obligations in the program in which the student is accepted will be exempted.

 

  1. It is not possible to transfer from Second Cycle Non-Thesis Master's Programs to Regular Cycle Non-Thesis Master's Programs and Thesis Master's Programs.

 

  1. Students in non-thesis master's programs at a higher education institution outside of KU or in a higher education institution abroad are admitted to master's and doctoral programs with/without thesis conducted at KU with the approval of the head of the EABD and the decision of the EYK.

 

  1. Success ranking is based on the "Transcript" (weighted GPA) of the student in the program. In addition, the student's education period and the courses to be taken are determined by the EABD chairmanship and decided by the EYK.
  2. Even if the student whose transfer application is accepted has completed the course credits, a maximum of four (4) courses can be taken if the advisor in the program to which the student transfers is recommended.
  3. Transfer between different graduate programs with thesis is accepted with the opinion of the relevant EABD and the decision of the EYK.

  4. The original and Turkish translation of the transcript (undergraduate/graduate) certified by the Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Turkey or the Education Counselor's Office or certified by the notaries of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey,
  5. Identity document (Certified Turkish translation of the parts of the passport related to identity),
  6. Letter of Intent (Letter explaining the student's purpose of graduate education, studies and projects) (Turkish or English))
  7. 4 passport size photographs (must have been taken within the last six months)
  8. Receipt of payment of tuition fee
  9. A document showing Turkish proficiency at C1 or 65/100 level obtained from TÖMER within the last 3 (three) years (if any) (For programs taught in Turkish)

 

  1. Certificate of recognition issued by the Council of Higher Education

 

  1. A document showing that you have received at least 60 (sixty) points from YDS or an equivalent score from a foreign language exam accepted by the Interuniversity Board. (For the program taught in English)

 

NOTES:

  1. Except for the distance education program, candidates must register in person. Candidates who cannot come due to an excuse can register by giving authorization to another person through notery.
  2. Scientific Preparatory Program may be applied to candidates who have received their undergraduate and graduate degrees from fields different from the program they are applying for. The duration of this program is maximum 1 year.
  3. In the evaluation of candidates, graduation grade point averages are evaluated in the hundredth system according to YÖKSİS data. The grade conversion table of YÖK is used in the conversion calculation of those whose graduation grade point averages are given in the quadratic system.
  4. It is the responsibility of the candidates to follow the announcements and updates regarding these announcements.
  5. In case of incorrect or missing application document, the final registration of the candidates will not be made.

 

  1. If international students do not bring a document from TÖMER showing Turkish proficiency at C1 or 65/100 level taken within the last 3 (three) years, they will receive 1 (one) year of education at TÖMER.
